As part of her carefully calculated media strategy for Femme

Fatale, she chose to appear on Out's Women We Love cover with

Madonna. It's no coincidence — Spears has long emulated Madonna's

carefully crafted career. And her appeal to the LGBT community

isn't much of a mystery.

"There's something inspiring about watching Britney rise to the top

of the charts after everything she's dealt with in the past, as

well as the gossip and criticism that continue to dog her," says
