Two months ago this weekend, the Hornets left Oregon with a historic win moncler jackets over Oregon State and dreams of a Big Sky Conference championship. Saturday, on the heels of a frustrating 29-20 loss at Portland State, all the Hornets were left with were questions and the guarantee of a losing season.
Sacramento State's defense took advantage of Viking miscues in the first half to keep the team in the game, but in the end the offense's inability to find its rhythm and finish drives did in the Hornets.
Asked to sum up the attitude in the locker room after the team's third straight loss, Sac State coach Marshall Sperbeck struggled to find the right words.
"We've kind of hit a tough part of our … " he trailed off. "We're at a tough point in our schedule to buy moncler jackets 2011 right now."
Senior quarterback Jeff Fleming, who started after missing the two previous games with an injury, said the team was frustrated after so many tough losses.
"Some have been so close where we feel we have beat ourselves and not played to our potential," he said. "It's just really frustrating, you know, really frustrating."
Fleming admitted feeling rusty in his return and blamed himself for missing opportunities in a woeful first half for the Hornets' offense.
Sac State (3-6, 2-5) went three-and-out on three of Fleming's first four drives, leading Sperbeck to insert freshman Garrett Safron, who also went three-and-out before Sperbeck reinserted Fleming.
"I just wanted him to get a rest, see the game and watch a series from the sideline," Sperbeck said. "Jeff's a competitor. He came back out, and he played hard."
